Obviously, I’m Back

Blackberry works again (thanks, Mike – worked like a charm). Bag lost at airport last night, but they called this morning and it’s on its way to my office. I just hope they don’t look inside because I always travel with questionable items. I’m always horrified when I open my bag and there’s that note from the TSA that they inspected my bag. At least I stopped packing black tar heroin in my lipstick tubes.

While on my little trip, I was talking with some friends and one admitted that his favorite vodka used to be Absolut (and he used to drink cocktails with fruit in them, but that’s another story). Now that he’s been introduced to good vodka, he considers Absolut to be on par with Barton’s Charcoal Filtered Vodka. I’m a Stoli girl myself. But you gotta love this print ad for Absolut Citron by TBWA/Chiat/Day. Copyranter writes, “IT LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING VAGINA.” Well put.

I Drink A Lot of Vodka..

…but not enough to ever be seen wearing a metallic blue parka at a “brand experience” for Absolut (London). They must have been giving away a ton of free liquor because these guys actually look like they’re enjoying themselves.

Time To Switch Vodka Brands

You know who you are. You love Ciroc. You’re a vodka connoisseur. But then you go to Perez Hilton and see it’s skinned with Diddy hawking your drink while wearing Carrera folding sunglasses and a ring left over from the Kay Jewelers Christmas extravaganza. “The Art of Luxury.” Please.

Love Vodka. Hate Ad.

Love me some vodka. LOVE it. In fact, I just had 4 Stoli rocks. And they were good. Screw that not drinking for a while idea I had earlier in the day. So while I was out at this joint down the street drinking said vodka rocks, I decided to try Absolut Pears. More like Absolut Shite. Only tried it because I saw this billboard ad on adrants earlier today. Don’t see what pears have to do with snakes. But I’m sure there’s some tie in. If I drink one more vodka, I’m sure I’ll get it.

Drinks, Anyone?

I’ve been sitting in the same chair for 14 hours with the same 2 people sitting on either side of me…..ideating. I’m sure they’re tired of looking at me too, but I don’t think it’s quite the same. You know you’re tired when you tell your boss “that slide sucks..take it out. I can’t believe you even wrote that crap.”  Need alcohol now. Check out this Saatchi ad that was on FFFFOUND! for 42 Below vodka. I’m too tired to even think through the pictures, but it has something to do with drinking too much and cross dressing, so I automatically love it.

Not a big fan of Smirnoff, but the spot I just saw on Brand Noise has some fabulous animation. I thought for sure the VO guy was talking about Rasputin, though. Microsite‘s not that bad either, which is a little surprising.

Early Morning Martinis

Just a thought. This flash site for Absolut featuring Lomo photography from around the world is simply beautiful. And don’t get me started on the ambient sound design – I’m just leaving it on at my desk all day even though it’s only a 7 second loop. Very, very nicely done.

This Is My Kind of Vodka

While on The Cool Hunter this morning looking for someplace to take a much needed vacation, I saw a banner ad for Babicka Vodka made with wormwood and clicked through to their site. Simple Flash, nothing to write home about. But what really struck me was the genius of the copywriting and the directions on how to “use” their vodka. Crazy Czechs. See last paragraph. Upon arising? I tried that the other day and it was not good.

Firing People Makes Me Sad. Kind of.

After conferring with our creative director this afternoon, I found out that 2 of my huge, fast-turn projects haven’t been worked on because one of my project coordinators forgot about them. Again. So I had to let her go. I’m a little bit broken up about this. And by broken up, I mean not at all. I’m going to hell.

Jesus and Vodka

Take a look at the new site for Reyka Vodka – nice use of green screen on the “Watch TV” section.  And really funny – the Jesus/vodka thing might anger some fundamentalist Christians, but eff them – they shouldn’t be visiting a site about liquor anyway.
