And pick me up a copy of the LA Times on Sunday and send it to me. Adland says that the upcoming movie, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, is running a scratch and sniff ad that smells like cake.  I like cake. More ads need to be done like this, as long as it’s not scratch and sniff old-people-having-sex.

    I haven’t seen this ad, but at least a scratch-and-sniff approach is “opt in”. Ads that inflicted unwanted smells on people have produced a negative backlash – even the aroma of freshly baked cookies(http://www.neurosciencemarketing.com/blog/articles/smell-ads.htm). Still, as part of a sensory branding effort, introducing smell makes sense.
